Hey everybody! I survived 2015! YAY! What a fantastic year it was!
Some interesting statistics:
Hottest wedding of 2015: 85 degrees
Coldest wedding of 2015: –4 degrees
Largest bridal party: 26 members (including bride and groom)
Smallest bridal party: 4 members (including bride and groom)
Number of weddings that had live reception music: 6 (as much as I love all of my DJing friends, I’m a musician and I need to support my people! haha!)
Number of weddings where it rained: 4
Number of weddings where it snowed: 2
Number of cemeteries visited for photos: 2
Number of weddings on the top of a mountain: 1
Number of weddings that included farm and/or wild animals: 3 (I didn’t include myself in that number.)
Well, let’s start this off by throwing myself under the bus first….makes sense to do it to yourself if you’re going to do it to others later! haha!
I like things at 90 degree angles. I just didn’t realize that it would be HOT…
I am the master of herp-derp faces…
…and apparently I’m constantly smiling as I take photos…
“Is the dress ok here?” …… my best side…..
I love the fact that my brides will follow me anywhere…
….and have I told you how much I LOVE super-fragrant flowers?…
I love cute things….like these anthropomorphic pine cones!
I asked my second shooter to take a photo of me in front of this amazing wall of paper flowers (made by a very talented and creative bride) because I thought it was beautiful. The last photo is me saying: “How the heck did she do this?!”
Before I cut my hair, I used it like a helicopter propeller. This next photo isn’t the greatest example of it, but trust me, it was awesome.
Wedding photography isn’t as glamorous as people think. A perfect example of this is me wiping away the sweat dripping down my face in the next photo….yummy!
Look how reluctant the guys are to listen to me when giving them direction! HAHA
I just want to be included in on all the love, people!…
Along with 90 degree angles, every hair has to be in place…
….and I hate to see my brides’ dresses get dirty!
The worst thing ever is to attract attention when it isn’t necessary. I like to stay in the “shadows”….and then creep out like a boss….capture the shot….and creep back into the shadows undetected like nothing happened HAHA!
Other times, I can’t help but be a giant pink eyesore because I mistakenly brought the wrong coat…
I’m in this next photo….can you find me? HA!
Hi! It’s MEEEE!
…..yep, I’m still here!!!
…and here!
I have no idea why I was pinching my own cheeks, but what I do know, is that I was talking to my bride about her dog!
….and apparently this is what I look like when I say “OMG he’s so cuuuute!!!” (the bridesmaid on the left definitely thinks I’m crazy HAHA)
How can I NOT be excited to be that close to an owl?!?!
I’m ALWAYS happy to see any animals at my weddings, but horses have a special place in my heart…
Some people may call this “torture”, but I call it LOVEEEE!!! HAHAHAHA! I yelled to my second shooter: “Randi! Get a pic of me making the horse talk!” #worthit
…and then I thought maybe the horse was embarrassed that I used her as a puppet, so I gave her kisses 🙂
….and of COURSE I need a wide angle shot of my favorite horse part! The SNOUT!!
At one wedding, there was this VERY tall guy. Oh how I wish I was taller (and I’m not short! I’m 5’8″!). He looks happy in the photo, but I’m sure I wasn’t the first person to ask if I could have my photo with him! It was a compliment, dude! We love your height!
This next bride is my friend, Jodi. Look how short I am in comparison to her!
My friend Anna Singer was in attendance at one of my weddings. This woman can sing AND she’s funny…..a double-threat! HA!
And now, the people who helped me accomplish everything…
Thank you, Ashley, Susan, Kristy, Mark, Christina, Melissa, and Randi for everything you’ve done for me. I value all of you and your talents immensely.
But….Ashley….do you remember that time when you brought your own second shooter?! I think you told me his name was Uncle Bob?
….I wish my LCD was a big as this guy’s!
But seriously, my second shooters are so awesome. They move garbage cans and random signs for me….
Do you know how much editing time this simple act saves?! SO MUCH!
And look….Christina is so happy to do it for me! (And poor Alicia was standing there, freezing….but it doesn’t matter when you look that amazing, amirite?!)
These next two photos still crack me up. Kristy and Mark thought they were helping me by tossing the veil in the air for a photo…..
….when in reality, all I wanted was a photo of them looking silly HAHAHA! (Sorry guys, don’t hold it against me lol)
I love how Susan thinks she might be in my way in the next photo…..
….and catching Randi off-guard is awesome!….
Christina wants to give Graham and his groomsmen a big giant hug! LOL Come on! She just wants to spread the love, guys!
Having a second shooter who also doubles as a mom helps during times like these….
And Ashley also is a great model. She looks like she could’ve been a bridesmaid at this wedding….
…other times, I capture Ashley doing her “deer in the headlights” stare…
….or wanting to join in on the dancing fun….
….or waiting for a fist bump from a wedding cake with anthropomorphic pine cones on it….
….and little kids are drawn to her….much like animals are drawn to Snow White…(this little girl just sat down next to her!)
…and this cute little boy decided he wanted to sit next to the photographer lady!
Mark on the other hand, tries to blend in with the kids HAHA
And remember that one time my friend Beth Kukucka was in attendance at one of my weddings?! (Since weddings only ever have one photographer, we photographers rarely get to see each other.)
But I do get to hang with a LOT of cool vendors. Take for example, Alex Byers of Fineline Weddings…
…or the ALWAYS lovely Shari Tumminello of Tease Salon!
….or Maria Scheller at the New Hazlett Theater!
….or Nicky Allison from Platinum Fire Productions!
…and I cannot forget Eric Schiemer from Schiemer Entertainment!
Thank you all for such a wonderful year. I cannot wait to see you in 2016!!
